The CAT was originally designed because Michael Holgate installed a high quality Alpine headunit into his new 1997 Holden VS Calais, but once installed the functionality of the buttons on the steering wheel were lost. Using his knowledge of electronics and his passion for cars, he created a unit that connects to the steering wheel commands and emulated the head unit remote control frequencies via infrared.

In 2002, Michael decided to create this product to be sold to other car audio enthusiasts in the same unfortunate situation. This is when the Car Audio Transponder, known as THE CAT really began.

We produced several different versions of THE CAT that were specific for different vehicles and different audio head unit brands. Michael then developed the first multi-purpose CAT07 which proved a success by combining all the different vehicle and audio headunits compatible so far in one unit. We've now added different vehicle manufacturers, other headunit brands plus added the direct connect jack as standard, now brings us to the CAT10.
